Spiked eggnog from scratch

Yields: 1 bottle

Ingredients

  • 4  egg yolks
  • 6  cups milk
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 12 cup  almonds
  •  rum (you decide how much)

Directions

  1. Place almonds in saucepan and cover with water.
  2. Heat to a boil until you can peel the skin off the almonds.
  3. Peel all the almonds.
  4. Place the peeled almonds in a blender with 1/3 cup milk. Blend well.
  5. In saucepan, heat the remaining milk with the sugar and the blended almonds.
  6. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until starts to foam slightly.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Beat the egg yolks with the rum, and carefully add them little by little, stirring all the while, into the milk mixture. Blend well.
  9. Let cool and store in a glass bottle.
