Rich Stove Top Hot Cocoa

Delicious creamy and rich hot cocoa. Perfect for a chilly day to keep cozy and warm! Use 3 cups total milk for a more darker chocolate flavor, and add an extra cup to make it more milk-chocolate--still delicious! From the kitchen of Rosanna Pansino. Show more

Yields: 4 Cups

Ingredients

  • 12 cup sugar
  • 13 cup  cocoa
  • 18 teaspoon salt (pinch)
  • 13 water
  • 3 12 cups  whole milk (can split amount with cream for richer flavor)
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Mix cocoa, sugar and salt into a small bowl.
  2. Put water in small pot to boil.
  3. Once boiling, add cocoa mix and stir with whisk until well blended. When bubbly, continue to stir for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Slowly add in milk (or both milk and cream). Occasionally stir until milk is on the verge of boiling.
  5. Stir in vanilla and remove from heat. Pour into your favorite cocoa mug! It may need time to cool. Enjoy!
  6. **If there's extra, you can store in the fridge for 1-2 days. Just reheat and stir and will still be good!
