Refried Beans

Ingredients
- 2 cups pinto beans, dry
- 6 cups water
- 1⁄4 lb salt pork, dry
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1⁄8 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
Directions
- Wash beans and place in water, Soak for several hours.
- Add Sliced salt pork.
- Place on stove top and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and simmer until beans are tender.
- Mash beans until smooth.
- Add salt, garlic, chili powder, and cooking oil.
- Fry in a heavy frying pan over med heat until mixture is a smooth, thick mass.
- Serve with chips.
- For a zesty dip add 1 jalapeno ,not seeded, chopped fine, and added to the spice mixture.
