Red Wine and Mushroom Sauce

First barbeque steak of the season and wanted something a little different beside barbeque sauce. Looked on the sites and in the fridge and this was the result. Colouring a little funky but the flavouring was a winner. Show more

  1. Splash of oil in frying pan. Add red onion on medium low heat. Cook about 4 minutes stirring often. Add sliced mushrooms and stir to combine. After about 5 minutes and mushroom liquid is evaporated add grated garlic and red wine at the same time. After wine has evaporated add the beef broth. Cook until reduced. Add salt and pepper to taste. Before serving add cold butter and stir to combine.
  2. Served over sliced steak on garlic bread.
