REAL SOUTHERN ICED TEa MADE THE SOUTH CAROLINa WAY
Ready In: 17 mins
Serves: 8
Yields: 8 ounces
Ingredients
- 4 family size lipton tea bags
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup unbleached cane sugar
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 small pinch baking soda
Directions
- take a 2 quart pot and place it on the stove. Add the 2 cups of water. turn the burner on high and bring to a boil.
- Turn off the burner and add 2 ice cubes. stir in the 2 ice cubes and 1 cup of sugar.
- Add the 4 tea bags and pinch of baking soda (like Arm & Hammer) then let cool completely with a lid or a plate on the pot.
- Remove the tea bags without squezing them (squezing only releases the tanic acid and makes the tea have a bitter taste) Pour into a 2 quart pitcher fill on up with cold water.
- Put ice in glasses pour in tea and enjoy.
- My opinion is it's best served with a large slice of fresh lemon.
- The baking soda will make it last in the fridge for about 4 days with out tasting bad.
