Randy's Aquavit

Warming in cold weather. Adapted from Andreas Viestad's recipe in "Kitchen of Light". He uses dill seed and cumin, but we prefer this version because it tastes less medicinal. Use potato vodka instead of grain vodka, it yields a smoother product. Experiment with other herbs, such as juniper, anise seed, angelica, mint, citrus zests, etc. to find a blend that suits your taste. Show more

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients, let steep 2 to 3 weeks, shaking every once in awhile. For stronger taste, let steep longer. When it tastes right, strain and discard the solids and return the aquavit to the bottle.
