  1. Put dry cookie mix and dry pudding mix in a bowl, stir. Prepare cookies according to directions, adding egg and shortening as needed. Stir in nuts and cherries until incorporated. Spoon onto cookie sheets using rounded tablespoon measure.
  2. Bake in preheated 325 oven for 9 to 13 minutes or to desired doneness. Cool on a wire rack.
