  1. In a saucepan over low heat, heat butter and brown sugar, stirring until smooth.
  2. Stir in evaporated milk.
  3. Cool slightly.
  4. Gradually, add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  5. Beat till a soft spreading consistency.
