Prairieland Pot Roast

Another recipe in my mom's collection of clippings. This looks like from a tv guide

Serves: 6-8

Yields: 1 pot roast

Ingredients

  • 3 -4  lbs  pot roast
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 8  ounces  catalina  French dressing
  • 12 cup water
  • 8  small onions
  • 4  medium carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 4  potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 14 cup flour
  • 12 cup water

Directions

  1. Season meat with salt and pepper.
  2. Brown in 1/4 C dressing in dutch oven over low heat; add remaining dressing and water.
  3. Cover and simmer for 2 hours.
  4. Add onions, carrots, and potatoesw, cover and continue to simmer for 1 hr or until vegetabes are tender.
  5. Remove meat and vegetables.
  6. Gradually add flour to water.
  7. Gradually add flour mixture to hot liquid in pan.
  8. Cook, stirring constantly unmtil mixture boils and thickens.
  9. Simmer about 5 min more stirring constantly.
  10. Serve with meat and vegetables.
