This potato gratin is easy to make and tastes so good you'll be making it for years to come. It goes great with all kinds of meats, but my favourite is a big steak. Show more

Directions

  1. Slice the potatoes thinly. The thickness of a coin is what you want. If you have a mandolin or foodprocessor, I suggest using it to slice them.
  2. Butter a big casserole dish.
  3. In a big bowl mix together cream, garlic, salt pepper and nutmeg.
  4. Add the potato slices to the cream mixture and toss to coat.
  5. Put half the potato layers in an even layer in the casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle half the grated cheese on top and layer the remaining potatoes over this. Pour over the cream mixture and finish with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes in the middle of the oven.
