Pot Roast, Crock Pot Style

adapted this recipe to suit my family, very easy to make and the pot roast makes its own gravy

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 3  lbs  boneless chuck roast, trimmed and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
  • 3  tablespoons flour
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoon pepper
  • 1  teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3  tablespoons  oil
  • 3  cups beef broth
  • 1  onion, peeled and cubed
  • 3 -4  potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1  cup carrot, peeled and cubed

Directions

  1. in large bowl, combine flour and spices, mix together. add pieces of beef.
  2. a few at a time, coat with flour mixture. In large skillet over medium heat brown beef, working in batches until well browned. Remove to plate, Pour broth into same skillet, bringing to boil, stirring. turn off heat. in crock pot.
  3. (slow cooker) place cut up carrots, potatoes, onions, and beef. Pour hot broth over all. Cover and cook for 8 hours on low.
