Pork Loaf (An Old Time Recipe)

This recipe is from an original 1910 "Wisconsin Farmers' Institutes Cookbook No. 3", that I bought in a small antique shop in eastern WI about 5-6 years ago This is how it is written....... Show more

Serves: 4-6

Yields: 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 2  lbs pork (I assume they mean "ground pork")
  • 1  pint  breadcrumbs
  • 2  eggs
  • 1  cup milk
  •  salt, pepper & sage (to taste?)

Directions

  1. Soak the bread crumbs in the milk.
  2. Add seasonings & eggs (unbeaten).
  3. Form into a loaf with the hands & bake in a moderate (350°) oven for 2 hours.
  4. Apples or potatoes are very nice cooked around the pork.
