Pork Goulash (Verpovy Gulas )

Ingredients
- 2 -3 medium onions
- 1⁄4 cup lard or 1⁄4 cup shortening
- 1 1⁄2 lbs fresh pork shoulder, cubed
- 1⁄2 teaspoon caraway seed
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- salt
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons flour
Directions
- Saute onion in lard.
- Add pork, caraway seed, paprika, salt and pepper, brown well.
- Add 1/2 cup water and simmer in a covered pan until tender (approximately 1 hour.)
- Sift the flour lightly over the meat juices and stir until brown.
- Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups water and simmer 10-20 minutes.
- Delicious with rice or dumplings.
