Pineapple Topped Cake

This is so easy! Been making this for many years.

Ingredients

  • 1 (18 ounce) package  yellow cake mix
  • 3  eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 13 cup  oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 13 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 3  tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3  tablespoons water
  • 8  ounces  whipped topping
  • 12 cup  finely chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare and bake cake according to pkg instructions for a 13x9 inch pan.
  2. Cool completely.
  3. Mix pineapple and sugar in saucepan.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Mix cornstarch and water; stir into pineapple.
  6. Cook and stir for 1 minute; remove from heat.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Cover cake top with pineapple mixture.
  9. Top with whipped topping; sprinkle with nuts.
