Ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 10 tablespoons cold butter
- 6 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 6 tablespoons ice water
Directions
- All of the ingredients should be cold. Place of flour salt and sugar in a bowl. Cut in the butter and shortening with the pastry blender or two knives until pea sized pieces are formed. At the icewater a teaspoon at a time and mix just until the dough holds together. The dough should not be sticky. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Shape each into a ball and flatten slightly. Wrap in plastic or wax paper refrigerate for at least an hour.
