Peppermint Canes Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 3⁄4 cup peppermint candy, crushed
- 5 teaspoons warm water
- 3⁄4 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions
- Heat oven to 350. In medium bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add egg and beat until blended.
- Stir in flour and salt, then 1/2 cup of the crushed candy.
- Using 1 tsp dough for each rope, shape one quarter of the dough into 36 4-inch ropes.
- To make candy cans, twist two ropes together, then bend into candy cane shape.
- Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 8 - 10 minutes until firm.
- Cool on baking sheet 1 minute before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- To make icing, stir water into confectioners sugar. Drizzle each cookie with icing. Sprinkle some of the remaining chopped candies.
- Set aside until icing has set.
