Peppered Strawberries

Ingredients
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, cut in half
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 1⁄2 orange, juice of
- 1 1⁄2 ounces cognac or 1 1⁄2 ounces brandy
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper
- French vanilla ice cream
Directions
- Remove hulls from strawberries; wash berries under cool water. In a skillet melt butter. Add sugar and stir constantly until it's caramel in color.
- Add orange juice and strawberries, simmering for a few minutes. Add the cognac or brandy, and allow the alcohol to cook off. Add pepper.
- To serve, place a scoop of ice cream in a bowl, and spoon berries on top.
