Pennsylvania German Fried Tomatoes

This recipe is a delicious way of using up some of those tomatoes when your garden is bursting to full with them. Show more

  1. Pat tomato slices dry with paper towel.
  2. Sprinkle on both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Coat in flour.
  4. Melt butter in large frying pan and fry slices til lightly brown on bottom, about 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with 2 TBS brown sugar and turn them over with a spatula.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  7. Cook until golden but still hold their shape, about 4 minutes longer.
  8. Transfer to a serving platter.
  9. Pour cream into skillet.
  10. Increase heat to medium high.
  11. Bring to boil stirring.
  12. Boil until sauce thickens, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  13. Pour sauce over tomatoes.
  14. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.
