Peas a La Francaise

I made this for Christmas dinner, and it was a hit! I got the recipe out of my taste of home Christmas holiday magazine. The recipe calls for fresh pearl onions but I changed it and used a bag of the frozen ones! Much easier! Show more

Serves: 12

Ingredients

  • 14 cup butter, cubed
  • 14 cup water
  • 1  tablespoon sugar
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 14 teaspoon dried chervil
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (16 ounce) packages  frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 (10 ounce) package  white pearl onions, thawed
  • 2  cups lettuce, shredded

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the onions, water, sugar and seasonings. Add peas and lettuce, stir until blended.
  2. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until tender.
  3. Serve with slotted spoon.
