Peanut Butter Sweetie Cookies With a Kiss

my granddaughter's favorite cookie

• Yields: 3 dozen

Ingredients

• 1 3⁄4 cups flour
• 1  teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1  cup sugar, divided
• 2  tablespoons milk
• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar, packed
• 1⁄2 cup shortening
• 1⁄2 cup creamy peanut butter
• 1  large egg
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
• 6  ounces  chocolate  Hershey chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Directions

1. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, 1/2 cup sugar, milk, brown sugar, shortening, peanut butter, egg and vanilla together;
2. mix well.
3. Shape into 1" balls, roll in remaining sugar.
4. Arrange on ungreased cookie sheet, slightly flatten with bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
5. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
6. Remove from oven and place one chocolate kiss in center of each cookie.
