- Cover peas with plenty of water and let soak over night.
- Drain well and rinse.
- Place all ingredients into a large soup pot, and add enough water to cover.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the bone and bay leaf, and blend soup with a stick blender until smooth.
