Papanante (Pepper Nuts)

Family favourite at Christmas time. This recipe is generous on the spices, my wife is a little more conservative.

• Yields: 500 cookies

Ingredients

• 3  cups white sugar
• 1  cup margarine
• 4  eggs
• 1  cup milk
• 3  teaspoons baking powder
• 1  teaspoon salt
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons ground cloves
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons nutmeg
• 1 1⁄2 teaspoons black pepper
• 7  cups flour

Directions

1. mix ingredients in the order given. (you can mix the wet and dry separate if you'd rather).
2. roll into 1/2 to 1 inch thick logs.
3. freeze.
4. cut frozen logs into discs about the thickness of a finger.
5. layout on baking sheet and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
