Oven Steak And Gravy

This is an old standby. Been making it for 30 years. I don't use spices in this because we like the beefy taste of the gravy without them. Feel free to add your favorites! Mashed potatoes are best with this. Show more

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 12 lbs  round steaks
  • 12 cup flour
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoon pepper
  • 3  tablespoons  oil
  •  water

Directions

  1. Cut steak in serving pieces.
  2. Mix flour with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in skillet.
  4. Dredge meat in flour; brown in hot oil.
  5. Place meat in 13 by 9 baking pan.
  6. Add 2 T flour to skillet.
  7. Cook and stir for 1 minute.
  8. Add water, about 3 cups, and cook and stir until it boils.
  9. Add more water if too thick.
  10. Pour over meat in pan.
  11. Cover with foil and bake at 350* for 2 hours.
  12. Check halfway through, turn meat over, and stir a little.
