Ingredients
- 2 quarts water
- 6 cups shredded Chinese cabbage
- 1 1⁄4 cups cilantro
- 1 sliced large onion
- 1 large carrot
- 1 small red bell pepper
- 1⁄3 cup sliced ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 dried shiitake mushrooms
- 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 star anise
- 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons szechuan peppercorns, toasted
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Combine all ingredients except salt and pepper in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Strain, discarding solids; season to taste with salt and pepper.
