Orange Nut Bread

Ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup shortening
- 3⁄4 cup milk
- 1⁄4 cup orange juice
- 1 egg
- 1 cup nuts, chopped
Directions
- Sift dry ingredients into a bowl.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add milk, orange juice and egg.
- Mix only enough to dampen ingredients.
- Add nuts.
- Pour into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan, spreading to corners and leaving a slight depression in center.
- Let stand for 20 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
- Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Then turn out on a rack to cool.
- Store overnight.
