This is an adaptation of a recipe I received from a cookbook. My hubby and I have been removing refined sugar from our diet so I made several changes to this recipe. These are delicious and have a wonderful flavor and texture. Show more

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375*.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and orange peel in a bowl; mix well.
  3. Add cut up pieces of butter and mix until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Add cranberries, sour cream, honey, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix to a soft dough.
  5. Remove dough onto lightly floured surface and kneed 8-10 times. It wont take much.
  6. Use a rolling pine (I used my hands to press down) and roll dough out to 8" square. Cut into 4 squares and cut the squares into triangles.
  7. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar topping if desired. (I preferred without the topping but rather served with a side of homemade whipped cream).
  8. Place in oven for 15-20 minutes or till golden brown.
