Orange Biscuits

  1. Prepare Orange Filling before dough.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan and slowly stir in flour.
  3. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir constantly.
  5. Gradually add orange juice and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  6. Stir in grated orange rind and sugar.
  7. Chill thoroughly.
  8. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, orange rind and whipping cream.
  9. Blend mixture with a fork until blended.
  10. Flour countertop or large wood cutting board with flour.
  11. Turn dough out and knead for 10 to 12 times.
  12. Roll dough into a 12 x 8 inch rectangle.
  13. Set aside.
  14. Spread with Orange Filling and roll into a jellyroll by starting with long side.
  15. Pinch together seam and ends.
  16. Cut dough into 1 inch pieces and place in greased and floured muffin pans.
  17. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
  18. Remove biscuits from muffin pan immediately and brush with butter.
