Orange and Elderflower Spritzer (Mocktail)

Found on thekitchn.com. To make an easy elderflower syrup: Place 2 cups water and 1 cup sugar in a sauce pan. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugars. Remove from heat, add one sprig of elderflowers and let sit ten minutes to infuse. Strain, discard solids, and allow syrup to cool completely. This will be more than is needed for this beverage. Ingredients

  • Beverage

  • 2  parts  orange juice, chilled
  • 1  part fizzy mineral water, chilled
  • 14  part elderflower  syrup, chilled (read ^^intro)
  • 1  lime slice, cut in half
  • garnish

  •  fresh fresh elderflower blossoms of fresh mint (my addition) or   lemon verbena leaf (my addition)

Directions

  1. Stir orange juice, mineral water, elderflower syrup and juice of one half lime slice together.
  2. Pour over ice into a glass.
  3. Taste and adjust for correct flavor.
  4. Garnish with the other lime slice, (fresh elderflower blossoms, mint or lemon verbena if desired) and enjoy!
  5. Note: I used juice of one medium orange, about 3-4 ounces of mineral water and about scant 1/4 cup of elderflower syrup. Find a balance of flavor you prefer. This wasn't an exact science. Lastly, I think it would be interesting to play around with other citrus-grapefruit comes first to mind -- .
