Okra Fingers

Ingredients
- 20 small fresh okra pods
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3⁄4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash black pepper
- vegetable oil
Directions
- Wash okra, trim steams, drain well.
- Pour buttermilk over okra, set aside.
- Combine next 5 ingredients mixing well. Remove each okra pod from buttermilk and carefully roll in cornmeal mixture.
- Drop into deep hot oil; fry 3 to 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
