Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients
- 1 3⁄4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick oatmeal
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 2 extra large eggs
- 1 3⁄4 cups unsifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- 3⁄4 cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Pour the boiling water over the oatmeal in a large mixing bowl.
- Let stand 10 minutes.
- Add the margarine to the hot mixture.
- When the margarine is melted add the two sugars and mix well.
- Mix dry ingredients and add to oatmeal mixture along with about half of the chocolate chips.
- Pour the mixture into 9x13 inch pan and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips and the nuts Bake in 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until done.
