Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
- 1. In a large bowl, cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in the molasses, egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- 2. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on sheet for 5 minutes then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
