Oatmeal Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 1⁄2 cups water, boiling
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1⁄3 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
Frosting
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup coconut
- 1⁄2 cup nutmeats (optional)
Directions
- In pan boil water add butter; stir in oatmeal and let stand 20 minutes.
- Pour into mixer bowl and add eggs and the first two sugars; mix.
- Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
- Mix well.
- Put into a 9x13-inch pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
- Frosting------------.
- Boil the three ingredients for the frosting for 1 minute.
- Add coconut and nutmeat.
- Let stand.
- When you take cake from oven put the frosting on cake.
