Nutty Crunch Snack Mix

Ingredients

  • 5  cups  frosted mini wheats bite size size  cereal
  • 1 12 cups  small pretzels
  • 12 cup  dry roasted peanuts
  • 2  tablespoons margarine
  • 2  tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 12 cup  smooth peanut butter
  • 1  cup raisins

Directions

  1. In medium bowl, measure mini wheats, pretzels, and peanuts; set aside.
  2. In a large microwave safe bowl, heat margarine, corn syrup, and peanut butter on HIGH for 30 seconds.
  3. Stir until smooth.
  4. Add cereal mixture and toss gently until evenly coated.
  5. Microwave on HIGH a total of 5 minutes, stirring well after 2 and 4 minutes
  6. (use caution, mixture will be hot).
  7. Remove cereal mixture from microwave and mix in raisins (use caution, mixture will be hot).
  8. Spread on waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
  9. When completely cool, store in airtight container.
  10. Variations:
  11. PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY: Prepare as above through step 3.
  12. Remove from microwave and stir in raisins.
  13. Sprinkle 1 tbsp dry regular strawberry gelatin over hot cereal mixture, tossing gently.
  14. Spread on waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
  15. When completely cooled store in airtight container.
  16. TROPICAL FRUIT: Prepare as above through step 3, adding 2 tbsp sesame seeds with cereal.
  17. Remove from microwave.
  18. Omit raisins and stir in 1 package (7 oz) dried tropical fruit medley chopped fruit.
  19. Spread on waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
  20. When completely cooled, store in airtight container.
