New Starlight Cake, Betty Crocker

This is an easy, delicious cake, that is easy to double if you need a larger size. I used this recipe for decorated cakes that I sold for a while. You may use lemon flavoring instead of vanilla if desired. Half of the shortening may be replaced with butter. Show more

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour pans.
  2. Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl.
  3. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scrape bowl thoroughly.
  4. Beat 3 minutes at high speed, scraping occasionally.
  5. Pour into pan(s), one 9” x 13”, two 8” or 9” layers. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  6. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
  7. Frost if desired after completely cool.
