  1. Wash the peaches and nectarines. Remove the seeds and chop the fruit.
  2. Mix together the sugar, vinegar, ginger,garlic,cinnamon, cloves, salt and pepper in a large saucepan. Slowly bring to the boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in the onions, pepper, peaches and nectarines.
  4. Return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer over medium heat for about 1 hours or until thick, stirring frequently.
  5. Pour into warm sterilized jars and seal.
