Nannys Wesson Oil Cake

This is our standard family brithday cake recipe- we top w/ cream cheese frosting !

• Yields: 1 Cake

Ingredients

• 2  cups flour
• 2  cups sugar
• 2  teaspoons baking soda
• 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄2 cup  cocoa
• 1  cup  Wesson Oil
• 1  cup buttermilk
• 2  eggs, beaten
• 1  cup  hot coffee
• 2  teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

1. Mix all together saving the coffee and vanilla to add last. Batter is thin.
2. Bake 350 for about 45 minutes. Use 2 rounds pans or 1 9 by 13.
3. Cool and frost w/ cream cheese frosting. This calls for wesson oil- any vegetable oil will work. My guess is Wesson must have come up w/ the recpie yrs ago, my grandmother used it for many, many yrs.
