Nanny's Molasses Cookies

These bring back memories of nanny's kitchen and all the delicious food she made. Prep time includes the cooling. Just an estimate of how many cookies it makes.

Ingredients

• 1  cup sugar
• 1  cup molasses
• 1  cup shortening
• 6  cups flour
• 1  teaspoon ginger
• 1⁄2 cup hot water
• 3  teaspoons baking soda
• 1  egg

Directions

1. Mix ingredients together.
2. Let stand in cool place for 1 hour.
3. Roll into 1-inch balls and flatten with fork.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
