Nan Jones' Coffee Cake

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 lb butter
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
Topping
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
- Grease a 9X13 pan. Preheat oven to 350.
- Cream butter and sugar together well.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add sour cream and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the batter. (I do this a bit at a time to avoid flour spraying all over the kitchen.
- Mix the topping ingredients together.
- Put 1/2 of the batter into the pan. The batter will be very thick so you will need to smooth it out.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 of the topping mixture.
- Repeat the layers.
- Bake 45 minutes.
- This also freezes well.
