Mystic Seaport Strawberries N' Champagne Punch

Ingredients
- 1 quart fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1⁄4-1⁄2 cup superfine sugar
- 1 (750 ml) bottle dry white wine
- 1 cup kirsch
- 4 (750 ml) bottles champagne, chilled
- ice ring with strawberry (optional. directions follow)
Directions
- Place strawberries in a bowl with sugar and white wine. Let stand for 2-3 hours to mellow.
- In a punch bowl, place ice ring (directions below) or large block of ice. Add strawberry mixture, Kirsch and champagne.
- TO MAKE STRAWBERRY ICE RING:
- Place strawberries in an ice ring mold. Fill ice ring with water and freeze. The end.
