Mustard-Glazed Turnip Oven Fries (Healthy & Vegan)

I love oven fries and having enjoyed sweet potato and yucca fries as an alternative to potatoes, I was curious to try turnip fries for a while. This makes just 2-3 servings as turnips are smaller than potatoes, so please be sure to adjust accordingly if making for larger groups! This glaze sure has bite and yumminess, and turnips are a lower-calorie and low-carb alternative to potatoes. Show more

Directions

  1. Wash the turnips then cut their tops off. Leaving the skins on, cut into several pieces-- be careful with this step as cutting with a regular knife can be tough; I prefer using my crinkle cutter for this or to use a food processor blade.
  2. Make your glaze in a small bowl with the oil, vinegar, and spices. Put the turnip pieces into a zipper bag with the glaze and shake vigorously to thoroughly coat all the turnip pieces.
  3. Lay into a small baking dish (bigger if making more) and bake, uncovered, at 375F for 30 minutes, then turn on the broiler for 5 more minutes to get nice crispy edges.
