Mushrooms and Oysters

This recipe comes from a little book called ABC Jiffy Cookery. I've had it for over 50 years. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. I'm putting them on here so I can find them easier. Show more

Serves: 6

Yields: 1 casserole

Ingredients

  • 1  cup mushroom
  • 8  tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1  cup  fine breadcrumbs
  • 2  pints  oysters
  • 1  cup milk
  • 12 cup  light cream

Directions

  1. Slice mushrooms and saute in 2 Tblsp. butter 2 minutes. Line bottom of a greased casserole with 1/3 of crumbs, add a layer of sliced mushrooms and dot with 1 Tblsp. butter; add another layer of crumbs, then oysters, remaining sliced mushrooms and a final layer of crumbs.
  2. Pour milk, cream and remaining 5 Tblsp. melted butter over top. Bake in 350* oven 25 minutes.
