Mulled Wine

Semi-sweet, spicy, and delicious!

Serves: 5-10

Yields: 20 8-ounce servings

Ingredients

  • 2 (1 1/2liter) bottles red wine, such as pinot noir, zinfandel, malbec, shiraz
  • 12 gallon  of cranberry pomegranate juice, cranberry raspberry juice, etc. (organic if possible)
  • 1  orange, sliced
  •  spices, clove and cinnamon for sure, but nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cake spice or  pumpkin pie spice, can also be added
  • 2 -3  cinnamon sticks

Directions

  1. Combine spices in a coffee filter and secure with butcher's string or a hair tie.
  2. In a large stock pot, combine wine, juice, orange slices, spice bundle, and cinnamon sticks.
  3. Heat on medium high until it just begins to bubble. Turn off heat and serve hot.
  4. To keep warm, put it in a crockpot on the lowest setting, or even better, in a keg cooler that has a tap (like those yellow Igloo ones) for hanging out by a fire on a chilly autumn night.
