Morah Shoshana's Hamantashen

We got the original recipe from a marvelous nursery school teacher, Morah Shoshana. The dough is very easy to make and great for little hands to help. Plus the dough is tasty enough make just plain cookies if you want. Show more

Yields: 36-48 cookies

Ingredients

  • 5  cups flour
  • 2  cups sugar
  • 7  ounces  oil
  • 2  eggs
  • 4  teaspoons baking powder
  • 5  ounces  orange juice (apple juice may be substituted)
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 2  teaspoons vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients by hand. (You may add a little more flour or liquid if the dough is too wet or dry.).
  2. Refrigerate for one hour.
  3. Prepare fillings of your choice.
  4. Roll into walnut size balls, flatten into circles in your palms (OR roll out and cut into circles) and then fill with filling of your choice and pinch into triangles.
  5. Place on lightly greased pan or lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake 350 degrees between 12-18 minutes (depending on size) until golden.
  7. Make a bracha and enjoy!
