Mom's Spice Cake

I probably haven't had this cake for 30 years. My Mom made it up with stuff we had plenty of when we had cows and chickens. I had her tell me the ingredients so we'd have the recipe if we wanted it. When I called her this morning she still had it, after searching a bit. I only remember I really liked it and didn't ususally put frosting on it.

Ingredients

• 1  cup butter, softened
• 4  eggs
• 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
• 1  teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1  teaspoon cinnamon
• 1⁄2 teaspoon clove
• 2 1⁄2 cups flour
• 1  cup buttermilk

Directions

1. Cream butter, sugar and eggs.
2. In another bowl mix baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, and flour.
3. Alternate adding the flour mixture, and buttermilk to sugar mixture.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
