Mom's Outrageous Brownies

My mother found this recipe in the newpapers several years ago and claimed it as her own even though it was originally submitted by a woman named Lola Wohlford. I will give credit to both ladies here as the creators of a truly "outrageous" brownie.

• Yields: 24 brownies

Ingredients

• 1  cup sugar
• 1⁄2 cup butter, melted
• 1  cup flour
• 4  eggs, well beaten
• 16  ounces  chocolate syrup

• For icing

• 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
• 6  tablespoons butter
• 6  tablespoons milk
• 1⁄2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine the first 5 ingredients and pour into a well-greased 9x13" pan.
3. Bake 35 min or till set.
4. Allow to cool before icing.
5. For icing: Combine the sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently so as not to scorch.
6. Boil for one minute.
7. Add the chocolate chips and stir to melt.
8. Beat the icing with a spoon about 2 minutes, until fudgy thick.
9. Ice the brownies.
