Ingredients
Bottom
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1⁄3 cup cocoa
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 5 ounces mini marshmallows
Top
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1⁄3 cup cocoa
- 16 tablespoons butter
- 1⁄4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
- For bottom:.
- Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and beat well. In separate bowl, sift flour, cocoa, and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Add vanilla extract and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes. Remove from oven and pour marshmallows on top. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
- For Icing:.
- Sift sugar and cocoa. Add butter and remaining ingredients. Mix well. Spread on cooled cake.
