Merry Christmas Cookies

My Mother made these back in the 50's. They have a spicey flavor, and smell wonderful baking during the holidays. These are crispy cookies and fun to decorate.

Ingredients

• 1⁄3 cup shortening
• 1⁄3 cup brown sugar
• 1  egg
• 2⁄3 cup honey
• 2 3⁄4 cups flour
• 1  teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 2  teaspoons cinnamon
• 1  teaspoon ground ginger

Directions

1. mix together thoroughly shortening brown sugar egg and honey.
2. stir in flour and spices.
3. chill dough for 30 min.
4. roll out 1/4 inch thick cut into desired shapes.
5. place 1 inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
6. bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.
7. Cool, frost or decorate as desired.
