Meat Balls in Onion Soup

These meatballs have oatmeal in them. They taste wonderful. It extends the meat with a healthy grain. I added the gravy mix to this because I use cheap French onion soup mix. If your French onion soup mix is beefy you don't need to add the gravy. Ingredients

  • 12 cup milk
  • 34 cup oatmeal
  • 1  egg
  • 1  teaspoon pepper
  • 1  lb ground beef
  • 2  tablespoons  oil
  • 13 cup flour
  • 78 ounce  brown gravy mix
  • 1 38 ounces  French onion soup mix
  • 2 12 cups water

Directions

  1. Heat milk and oatmeal in a mixing bowl until warm.
  2. Add egg; mix.
  3. Add salt and pepper; mix.
  4. Add ground beef; mix.
  5. Make 20 meatballs.
  6. Heat oil in skillet.
  7. Roll meatballs in flour.
  8. Drop in hot oil; brown.
  9. Mix gravy mix and French onion soup mix in water.
  10. Pour over browned meatballs.
  11. Cook 20 minutes on low.
  12. Mix 1/4 cup water with leftover flour; pour over meatballs.
  13. Cook 10 more minutes until gravy is thick.
