Sweet & Salty Marinated Chicken Wings

This is one of my sister's party recipes. Prep time does not include marinating time.

Ready In: 1 hr 20 mins

Yields: 24 wings, about

Ingredients

  • 3  lbs chicken wings, washed and patted dry
  • 1 (16 ounce) bottle  good quality  Italian salad dressing (the oily kind, NOT fat-free)
  • 12 cup soy sauce
  • 1  packet  Good Seasonings Italian salad dressing mix
  • 1  pinch crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1  lb brown sugar, less to taste

Directions

  1. Cut chicken wings apart at joints, discarding tips or freeze them for the stock pot.
  2. Marinate overnight in salad dressing.
  3. Combine soy sauce, dressing mix, optional hot pepper flakes, and brown sugar in a small saucepan.
  4. Heat, stirring, until blended and sugar has dissolved.
  5. Drain chicken wings well, and place in shallow baking pan.
  6. Baste with soy sauce mixture, and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour, turning and basting frequently with soy sauce mixture.
  7. Serve hot or cold.
  8. The easiest way to serve hot is to scrape them into a crockpot set to LOW and drizzle them with any remaining soy sauce mixture.
