maraschino cherry cake

this is like a pound cake so it is very filling for lunches

  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. Drain cherries & dry thoroughly.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder.
  4. Coat cherries with a little of this dry mixture.
  5. Beat butter& sugar together until light& fluffy.
  6. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
  7. add flavouring.
  8. Stir in remaining flour mixture alternately with milk.
  9. When smoothly blended add the cherries stirring them in.
  10. scrape into a well greased tube pan.
  11. Bake about 2 hours or until cake is set.
  12. Test with toothpick.
  13. cool before removing from pan.
